GETTING MARRIED IN BRECKENRIDGE

It's little wonder why so many couples choose to have a Breckenridge wedding. The town is, after all, plentiful with beautiful scenery, gorgeous wedding venues, and professionals dedicated to making your special day one to remember. Breckenridge Lodging is here to help you plan the lodging details involved in your perfect Breckenridge wedding. But there's a lot more that goes into planning a destination wedding than just the lodging. So we've put together some tips to help you get started planning your Breckenridge wedding.

Budgeting Your Wedding

Budgeting is the first step in planning your wedding, and decidedly, the least fun as well. But, it's extremely important to start your planning with this step. Getting a budget established first thing - and more importantly, sticking to that budget - will help to ensure that your costs don't go overboard. Recent reports suggest that the average cost of a wedding in the U.S. is over $25,000. If you have that much to spend on your wedding, that's great! But if not, you need to take steps to make sure that you and your intended aren't starting your married life buried under a mountain of debt.

Don't forget to budget for wedding costs like:

  • Gifts for bridesmaids and groomsmen

  • Stationery and postage for save-the-date cards, invitations, and thank-you cards

  • Gratuities for your wedding service providers

  • Beauty treatments before the big day

  • Wedding favors or gift bags for the guests

  • Overtime charges if your wedding gets a late start or lasts longer than expected

Get Organized

Once you start taking the first steps in planning your wedding, keep all those details organized. You may want to put together a binder or notebook or even use online planning software. But it's important that you keep copies of contracts on hand as well as copies of any changes to agreements. If you've provided some of your service providers with special instructions, make sure that you have those instructions with you on your wedding day. That way, if there's a miscommunication of any sort, you can hand the instructions over and rest assured that everyone is on the same page.

Picking the Date

Your wedding date is something that you'll remember forever. Before you pick that date, though, you should check and see if it overlaps with any festivals or other events going on in Breckenridge. Scheduling a wedding at the same time as other large events in town means that you may have a more difficult time securing lodging. Lodging and other costs, like venue rentals, may be more expensive as well, to account for the increased demand. The same goes for having your wedding on or close to a major holiday - your costs will be much higher than at other times during the year that aren't considered to be peak dates or peak seasons.

Choosing Your Wedding Venue

Breckenridge has dozens of wedding venues that are well-suited for a variety of tastes. You can choose from outdoor weddings that are set against the backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountains or indoor weddings that have a more intimate feel and embrace the history of Breckenridge. Things to consider when choosing a wedding venue:

  • Do you want your wedding and reception at the same location? Some venues can host both weddings and receptions, while others do not.

  • How many guests are you expecting? Capacities vary by location, so take that number into account when you start considering venues.

  • Are you planning on having a religious ceremony? Sometimes, religious ceremonies have to be held in places of worship.

  • How much work will you need to do? While many wedding venues have dedicated staff available to set up chairs, tables, etc., some may not. You may have to enlist the help of family and friends or hire additional helpers.

Make Sure You Plan for Mountain Weather!

If you want to have a summer wedding, keep in mind that during the afternoons, rain and thunderstorms are common! In the spring and fall, Breckenridge weather can vary widely, from snow one day to warm temperatures the next. Winter weddings might see snow in the form of dusting or dumping. Having a standby venue for your wedding and/or reception can save you the heartache and trouble of having to postpone your celebration or scramble to find something else at the last minute.

Selecting Accommodations in Breckenridge

Our Wedding Sales Director will help you pick the perfect Breckenridge accommodations for you and your guests. Ahead of time, you may want to put together a list of the types of lodging you're interested in as you consider who will be attending your wedding. You should also factor in whether you're planning on participating in other activities while in Breckenridge. For example, if you want to spend time on the slopes, it may be more convenient for you and your guests to stay in ski-in/ski-out properties.

You'll have lots of different lodging options from which you can choose and you might be able to qualify for group discounts at certain properties. You may be interested in finding several condominiums in one complex that are available for your wedding day. Alternatively, you may choose a large, luxury home that has room for your entire bridal party. Either way, we will work with you and your guests to ensure that everyone's needs are met.

Getting the Marriage License

Many married people have said that getting a marriage license was the easiest, and most inexpensive, part of their wedding. In Breckenridge, you can apply for a marriage license at the Old County Courthouse, which is located at 208 East Lincoln Avenue. It's valid as soon as you receive it and it must be used within 30 days in the State of Colorado. To get a marriage license, both you and your intended need to be present and have a valid form of identification. Then you simply fill out the appropriate paperwork and pay the license fee. In Colorado, couples can solemnize their marriage as can several other individuals, like judges or religious officials. Witnesses are not required.

For more information on getting a Colorado marriage license, you can take a look at the Summit County Marriage License web page.

GROUP LODGING IN BRECKENRIDGE

Are you in charge of planning your next family reunion or corporate retreat? Lucky for you - Breckenridge Lodging can help you sort out all the details and get everything squared away. We are happy to help by suggesting properties that are best suited to your group's needs. And, in some cases, you may qualify for discounted room rates.

Your Breckenridge Family Reunion or Retreat

Being tasked with organizing a large group get-together is no laughing matter and we at Effortless Rental Group - Breckenridge Lodging know that. We will help you find accommodations that meet your budget as well as the needs of everyone who's attending. In addition, we'll suggest the best locations for your gathering as well as amenities that may help to make your event even better. We define a group as 20 or more people traveling together during the same period. But even if you have a smaller group, we can still help out!

Choosing Group Accommodations in Breckenridge

When you start planning, begin by considering who will be attending the event. Will it be a larger event with several groups of people or a smaller one with a close-knit group of individuals? Booking several condominiums or townhomes in one complex keeps everyone close while also giving each person enough private space and room to spread out. Renting a larger luxury home gives your group one central location to call home and in which to gather during their Breckenridge stay.

Next, you'll want to think about what types of activities will be happening during this event. Do you want to be close to Main Street or the slopes? Or maybe, you'd like a location that's a bit off the beaten path. Don't forget about considering how everyone will get to their accommodations. If you're interested in a vacation home or condo that's more remote, you'll want to make sure everyone in your group can get there easily.

Is all this sounding a little overwhelming? Give us a call at (720) 292.8891 or shoot us an email at ergbooking@effortlessrentalgroup.com  We'll answer any questions you have and help you find exactly what you're looking for.

It's an easy drive along the interstate with lots of good scenery along the way. You can choose to rent a car or use an airport shuttle service. Once you're in town, there are free shuttles that offer several different route options.

  • Breckenridge is close to many other interesting mountain areas - Breckenridge is centrally located in the Rocky Mountains, making it a great hub for any day trip you'd like to make.
