Breckenridge Summer Activities & Events

Breckenridge, frequently thought of as a winter destination, is far from a one-season wonder. The emergence of the area’s natural splendor coincides with the melting of the powdery snow that has made Breckenridge such a popular winter resort. Once spring takes hold, the region erupts with color and life.

The summer season is arguably the best time to enjoy everything that this little mountain town has to offer. From hot air balloon rides and bicycle rentals to world-class hiking and more, summer activities in Breckenridge abound. In addition, there are numerous summer events and festivals in Breckenridge that are family- and kid-friendly. You won't have to look too hard to find things to do in Breckenridge during the summer.

All year long, Breckenridge hosts a variety of unique and interesting events. Our Breckenridge events calendar gives you a breakdown of some of the town's more popular festivals and events. But, if you're visiting during the summer months, you'll have plenty of events from which you can choose.

In June, Breckenridge Kingdom Days offer visitors a chance to explore the history of the town. There are tours of some of the town's historical homes, live music, and even the Outhouse Races, where teams build their own outhouses and compete to push them across the finish line. The 4th of July has a parade, bike races, and an art festival. The festivities conclude that day with a concert and, of course, fireworks.

During August, Breckenridge is frequently a stop on the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, which is one of the largest cycling events in the country. These events also correspond with Breck Bike Week that includes group rides, children's races, lectures, workshops, and more. The summer wraps up with Labor Day weekend. Over the three-day weekend, there's an art festival, a huge sidewalk sale, trail races, and rubber duck races down the Blue River.
